You have heard that cooking is relaxing, but perhaps 2020 was a year that almost all of us try it out at home! You had very little opportunity to really go outside because of the lockdown, so here I have listed some recipes that retreated to the kitchen for all of our cravings and, more often than not, to simply experiment. And it was a succession of food trends that went viral and flooded the Internet that inspired these attempts! Some became popular for a variety of reasons, whereas others hit the internet for a variety of reasons.

  1. Banana Bread :

The easy banana bread recipe is known to become extremely popular during the lockdown period. It’s a delightful snack that could be enjoyed at any time of day. The recipe’s ingredients are readily available in the kitchen, making it ideal for cooking throughout lockdown. The best part of the banana bread is its sweet, crumbly texture, which melts in your mouth in a second. It fills our sweet tooth while also allowing us to use up any leftover or rotten bananas at home.

2. Rava Toast :

Rava Toast is a simple and easy toast, especially for vegetarians, and can be eaten mainly for breakfast. As it packs in a punch of nutrition and taste, the recipe is an Indian household favorite. The preparation is somewhat different from others; the batter is prepared and spread over the bread with semolina, yogurt, and vegetables. In a hot skillet, it is then toasted, making it very light and full of flavor.

How To Prepare :

  • Take half a cup of Rava in a bowl,
  • Add finely chopped 1 small onion, half capsicum, 1 tomato, grated carrot (optional),

  • Add 2–3 tablespoons plain yogurt/ Fresh cream (Malai), salt to taste, and black pepper pinch.
  • Mix all the ingredients nicely using a spoon. Now add just a little water because we want thick batter. *
  • Now Take bread slices and spread the Rava mixture thinly and evenly on each piece.
  • Don’t spread it too thick, else the toast will not turn crispy.
  • Grease a non-stick pan with oil on medium flame, sprinkle some mustard seeds all over the pan (optional)
  • Place the bread slices on tava, keeping Rava mixture side down.
  • Cook on low flame until the bottom surface turns golden brown.
  • Flip bread slices and cook another side on low flame until it turns crispy and golden brown color.

3. Dalgona Coffee:

One of the most raging, arm-encasing food recipes that got everyone caught up like a storm was making Dalgona coffee. Everyone has tried it and is still trying to build it in various versions. While sitting at home and probably wanting a cup of good coffee, brewing up a coffee from Dalgona seems like a good idea. Even though it’s one of those wrist recipes that gives the muscles a good workout (so it’s okay, right?), patience for shaping the silky foam is a memo you don’t have yet! This one is for all those who had struggled or gave up attempts just before the foam began to shape! It takes a while, so be patient & hang on to it.
